Based at the Panama Canal but ready to mobilize on short notice to any Country in the Americas.
On this occasion, Talleres Industriales, asister company of Canal Barges & Cranes was awarded a turnkey solution project to move 3 power plants from the Panama Canal to a Caribbean lsland.
Talleres contracted for this task Canal Barge & Cranes deck barge Rafael E. Arosemena 111. Our barge was ideal for this operation since the same was heavily reinforced at the loading points.
Barge Rafael E Arosemena 111 had a good track record of being used in the past for many heavy cargo projects. Talleres as usual did an outstanding job on the removal of auxíliary engines and generators from the Panama Canal premises at Miraflores where she has worked for more than half a century.
Talleres had to reinforce bridges, clear paths, build new access roads, and reposition sorne electrical lines.
Finally, and using special heavy lift trailers Talleres smoothly transported and loaded engines and alternators to Canal Barge & Cranes 4500 deck barge in a sequence where stability was maintained.
Upon completion of dismantling and rigging of the equipment, power plants were transported to the loading site where the barge was positioned but the path was full of obstacles.
During the loading sequence, Talleres hada team ballasting and de-ballasting the barge to compensate far all the weights that were loaded. Upan completion of loading, all equipment was lashed and secured on deck to start the trip. The barge transited the canal and after smooth navigation in the Caribbean Sea safely arrived at the unloading port. Canal Barges & Cranes is proud to have participated in this one-of-a-kind project.
